| The Atlantic
Ocean, the Pacific Ocean - and everything in
between!
The major adventure of a lifetime: the crossing
of the American Continent under one's own power! The chance to witness the
beauty, the grandeur and the spectacle of America; to experience the
camaraderie of a group sharing emotional and physical challenges on a
scale unlikely to be encountered again; not to mention the fact that
you'll never be at a loss for a travel anecdote for the rest of vour life!
Above all else, this trip is a physical challenge. We're talking about
serious cycling! 3800 miles! 70-I00 mile cycling days! |
 |
Mountain ranges! The Great
Plains! The Continental Divide! Prairies! River valleys! Canyons! The
chance to experience all the weather you hear on the nightly national
weather reports! Some prerequisites before you consider this trip: you
should be in very good shape; you've got a personality that can be lived
with under difficult circumstances for 2 months; you are not a quitter;
you've got a good bike in excellent shape; and, of course, you love to
bicycle!!!
Your itinerary will often follow one of the established
cross-country "BikeCentennial" bike trails as your group starts cycling from the Pacific
Ocean near Portland, Oregon, to Sandy Hook, New Jersey on the Atlantic Ocean. You'll bike through the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains, past ranches and through national parks (including Yellowstone), across the mighty Mississippi, and through beautiful rolling countryside of the mid-West. you'll ride through Amish farm country before jubilantly diving into the Atlantic Ocean in celebration of your
amazing accomplishment! |
