MODERATE BIKING      8 DAYS
Trip #PW

We will meet you in Pittsburgh, but your biking starts in Duquesne, on the Great Allegheny Passage a segment of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, providing a nearly level ride to break you in gently, but this is a muscle-powered adventure that follows wild rivers, passes through shaded forests, and intersects with charming trailside communities. Accommodations will be campgrounds or hostels, with the group acting as a self-supporting unit, carrying their gear and sharing the group chores.

You will cycle 135 miles, then join the C&O Canal trail. The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal is located along the north bank of the Potomac River running approximately 184 miles, from Cumberland, Maryland right into the heart of our nation, to the Jefferson Memorial. The group then spends two days in Washington DC, Georgetown, and Alexandria, Virginia, sightseeing and shopping before departing for home.
