BIKING

The French Experience - without going to Europe!
Much of the province of Québec was settled by the French and still retains its French language and heritage. This journey takes you into a culture that, while similar to our own in some respects, is steeped in different traditions. Although English is often spoken, French is the dominant language. You'll have opportunities every day to speak French or to expand your French vocabulary by deciphering signs, by hearing it spoken, and by associating words with actual things.

This trip has a distinctly “foreign” tone. The city of Québec is the most “European” city in North America. Villages and towns along the route combine their European cultural heritage with the spirit of farm and river life in the New World, giving them a uniquely French Canadian flavor.

Vermont Border to Québec City
Quebec Chateau Québec is developing a vast network of 4000 kilometers of long distance bike trails. Your group will use this network as you cycle through beautiful, rolling farmland, fields of wildflowers, and forests, stopping for snacks at French bakeries in small towns dominated by tall cathedral spires. There are pristine lakes for swimming and boating, and little historical places and artisan's studios to visit. In Québec City, your group will stay in the heart of Vieux-Québec (the only walled city in North America) and take a boat trip on the St. Lawrence River.

Along the St. Lawrence River to Montreal
Biking in Laurentians Continuing on the lovely bike path along the majestic St. Lawrence River, you'll pass riverside cottages and gorgeous cathedrals, giving the area its distinct old-world feel. Your ride to Mont Tremblant will be on the longest bike trail in North America and, according to many, the most beautiful. Mountain lakes and meadows, gorgeous scenery, quaint resort towns, and an afternoon canoe trip highlight this portion of the trip. In Montréal, you'll explore the cosmopolitan city, take an exciting speedboat ride down Montréal's Lachine Rapids, and have a farewell dinner in a French restaurant.
